Wake up, social media users, we're crushing our creation

First we had personal web pages, blogs and forums and now we have advanced to social networking and video-sharing to enhance the global conversation.
The irony is that as more people climb aboard, to tell the world their life stories in a photo gallery or in 140 characters or less, the romance and democracy begins to fade.
With the burden of content, the true cost of this gaggle of free services is becoming more apparent.
If our cherished social media is to survive, it will do so at the cost of our patience and our privacy.
Social networking users are already tolerating a considerable amount of targeted advertising for foolish products aimed at specific age groups, genders and locations. Because I'm 23, I am offered free Ugg boots. (Yes, there's a catch.)
Change your relationship status to single and within hours the online dating service ads appear. Is this an invasion of privacy? Not quite, you put the info out there yourself, remember. But it still feels a little creepy and underhanded.
At least on Facebook, you can usually discern the ads from the activity of your friends. The latest social networking cash grab involves people getting paid to post Twitter updates (tweets) that endorse specific products to their (supposed) friends.
The consolation is that as advertisers warm up to the web, the ads of the future might be for stuff you could actually see yourself buying.

Mary O’Rourke rode to the defence of her Fianna Fáil sister

Mary O’Rourke rode to the defence of her Fianna Fáil sister. “To taunt and say silly things across the chamber – calling people Marie Antoinette, for example – is puerile and infantile . . . To think anybody would approach with delight saying to people that a Christmas bonus will not be paid would mean that person is very sadistic.”
Mary Hantoinette nodded in agreement from her ministerial chair.
Then Mammy O’Rourke made an interesting observation, which suggests that the Government may yet be contemplating pulling a nice little stroke for Christmas by restoring the Santy bonus in the nick of time.
“The Minister opened a chink in the argument last night . . . and indicated that if there was a chance of giving this Christmas bonus, she would grasp the opportunity and encourage the Minister for Finance to do so as well . . . I add my voice to this and will continue to do so.
“As the months go by and Christmas approaches, we hope there will be some avenue which could be further explored for the partial or whole payment of this Christmas bonus.”
Again, Mary Hantoinette nodded her agreement.
Let us hope this is the case, if only to cheer up Labour’s Ciarán Lynch, who waxed Dickensian during his contribution, which he began by quoting the opening line of A Christmas Carol.
He painted a heart-rending picture of aged grannies without as much as a turkey leg to chew on over the festive season, unable to buy Ugg boots for their ragged grandchildren and bottles of whiskey for their rat-arsed neighbours.
But, like Scrooge, Mary Hantoinette might still see the light. A Christmas Carol is a story of redemption, sniffed Ciarán, moist of eye.
There wasn’t dry seat in the House by the time he finished.

Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer, and Ruby Sweetheart

Picture Tobey Maguire as Spiderman. Now, picture Tobey Maguire wearing UGG boots. They don’t have to be tall boots - maybe just a pair of slippers or slide-ons. It doesn’t really matter because we haven’t caught him wearing them yet, but we have heard rumors that both his wife and daughter sport UGG boots regularly!
Ruby Sweetheart is now 2 years old and Tobey’s wife, Jennifer Meyer, is currently pregnant with their second child and is due this spring. Hopefully they’ll invest in a pair of UGG baby booties for the new addition to their family as well!
In all seriousness, Tobey Maguire has really made a name for himself. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen him in action, check out one of the Spiderman 3 trailers, rent the movie, snuggle up on your couch in your UGG slippers, and prepare to be amazed!

Caring for Your UGG Boots

You probably spent quite a bit of money on your UGG boots, so it’s important you take care of them properly to ensure they last for a long time. No one wants to run around in a pair of boots that look dirty and ratty, so here are a few things you can do to make sure your UGG boots keep that brand new look for as long as possible.
Start by making sure you take advantage of the UGG Water & Oil Repellent that came with your boots (sometimes called the UGG Protector spray). Pre-treat your boots before you start wearing them. Doing so will help to waterproof the exterior and will protect the sheepskin from light weather (rain and snow) or oils. You still shouldn’t wear your boots out in a blizzard, but they’ll be protected from natural wear and tear.
Do NOT wash your UGG boots. If you should find they’ve been stained you should attempt to spot treat them before you do anything else. You may need to scrub the entire boot if spot treatments do not work, but this is not something you should do on a regular basis.
If you do decide to wash your UGG boots you’ll need to start by dipping them in cold water. You’ll then use a brush to gently scrub the exterior and then rinse the boots again. Always use COLD water. Warm water will cause the wool to shrink more than usual.
Make sure you stuff your boots with paper towels or newspapers and place them in a warm area to dry. Never put your boots in front of a direct heat source (like your heating vent) or in direct sunlight as this type of heat will cause excess shrinkage as well.
Treat your UGGs kindly and they’ll last for a lifetime. Use the UGG cleaning and repellant solutions as often as necessary to ensure you’re safe from the elements. Otherwise, have fun

Ugg boots go from natural to flamboyant

One website has described the vast array of Ugg boots that are available and claims that there could be a comfy boot out there to suit everyone.
Whatever a persons style, it is likely that there will be a pair of Ugg boots to match as they are available in so many different colours and variations, according to Best Syndication.
The website states that the sheep skin used to make the cosy footwear can be dyed to "whatever colour you can think of".
It is this versatility which it believes makes the boots so popular and desirable.
"The styles run the gamut from the casual look of the standard three quarter boot in a natural shade to the flamboyant and funky long haired pink boot," the site furthers.
Those who already own a pair of Ugg boots onsale were recently advised by Money.pl to keep them in tip-top condition by sponging them gently with cold water and a suitable cleaning solution.

Wear Cardy Ugg boots

Are you absolutely sick of walking down the high street and seeing millions of different girls all wearing the same UGG Classic Cardy Boots?? What is it with these knitted boots that makes girls turn into sheep and all wear them??Do you think Cardy ugg boots look absolutely stupid on everyone or doe they actually look super sexy?? Well fashion designers have been battling it out all winter about whether or not cardy uggs actually look as good as the classic original ugg boot that broke hearts all winter. With some designers saying Uggs should be banished to the back of the wardrobe and others arguing that the cardy Ugg rightly deserves its place in fashionable girls hearts. Who ever’s rights it’s certainly a heated and emotive topic that is going to be an ongoing battle all winter. So why has the cardy ugg boot been so much more popular than the classic ugg boot that hit the high street years ago? dior shoes Well the main difference between the two boots is the style, with the fresher version being given a makeover and because its made from a new looser woollen fabric they are much stretchier than the original ugg so can be easily worn up or down depending on your mood!! But the new range of cardy ugg boots don’t have the same sheepskin look as the classic ugg but fashion designers have still been going crazy over them. This is because the timeless classic ugg boot had became boring and dull and fashionable girls feet were screaming out for a sexy new boot to break hearts in all winter. Well with the ultra glam cardy ugg boots boot becoming the best selling winter boot around there must be something this boot has that other boots are lacking in. Links of London sale The WOW factor is achieved with the wonderful knitted upper that blends in with the super sexy rubber shaped sole to create a perfect timeless boot that scream out style from all angles. Savvy girls and hot chics have been going bonkers over the Cardy uggs unique retro appearance and because of this popularity the designers at ugg limited have created a massive selection of super funky colours to make these the most appealing boots around. From jazzy emerald blue to the super sexy old school beige these boots come in such a massive range of colours it no wonder fashionable stars like Paris have grabbed them in all colours!!! But are there colours for everyone or do they still just all blend into one desperate mass of Cardy hell on the high street? Well for starters Ugg do seem to have got it spot on when it comes to choosing elusive colours that are not commonly found on other winter boots. The cool grey colour is a refreshing change from the boring brown and black but stay clear of the ghastly blue! This colour does nothing for any girls wardrobe and even though it may make you stand out on the high street it will be for all the wrong reasons!

Miley Cyrus Rocks UGG Boots

Miley Cyrus was recently spotted rocking a pair of UGG boots. Of course, certain members of the fashion police department would be quick to condemn her for wearing them with sweats, but what can we say? This teen star is still cute - regardless of how she wears her shoes.
On a serious note - Miley Cyrus recently released her first autobiography (she’s young, so we can assume there will be more) titled “Miley Cyrus: Miles To Go.” Inside the book she revealed to her fans that suffers from tachycardia - a heart condition in which the heart beats faster than it should even when the sufferer is resting. The singer is anxious about her condition because even though it can’t really hurt her she always has to worry about whether or not her heart is beating too quickly.
Fans of Miley Cyrus will love her new CD “Breakout” in which she breaks away from her Hannah Montana role and acts sings her heart out from her own personal perspective - no acting, no pretending, 100% Miley. The album includes rock hits, fast-paced love songs, and even a balad. True 80’s fans will love her take on Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” too!
This incredible 15 year old star may have committed a fashion faux pau the moment she tucked her sweats into her womens UGGs, but we plan on forgiving her. You have to give a considerable amount of credit to such a young woman working hard in an adult world! Wear your UGGs however you like, Miley!

Removing Wax from UGG Boots

You’re eating at your favorite restaurant and an accident at the table causes the candle to fall and melted wax spills on your UGG boots. Perhaps you dripped wax from a candle in your home or maybe you spilled wax while making your own candles. Regardless of how it happened, you now have a nasty wax stain on your favorite boots and have to find a way to remove it!
Wax stains are different than the ones caused by dirt, oil, and water. Because the wax hardens on the surface of the boot it will adhere in a way that makes cleaning much more difficult.
There are two main ways to approach removing a wax stain. One is to use cold and the other is to use heat.
Let’s look at cold first. If you apply ice to your boot, or even put it in the freezer, the cold will cause the wax to finish hardening and eventually constrict. This should make it easier to carefully and gently scrape the hardened wax off of your boot. Make sure you wrap your boot in a plastic bag before putting it in the freezer (to protect both your boot and your food) or, if it will not fit, use ice packs to freeze the area in question.
If the freezing does not work you could try applying heat to the wax. The heat will, of course, melt the wax and may cause it to spread, so you must use extreme caution when using this technique. Heat a small area of wax and try to absorb it before moving on to the next section. Using heat to remove the wax will likely still leave a stain on the suede - but the wax itself will be gone.
Use care in attempting to remove the wax stain from your UGGs and you’ll be able to save them from total ruin!

Shoe Buying Rules

Even though UGG boots can be dressed up or down depending on the event you plan to wear them to, we’ve received several questions regarding whether or not UGG boots are appropriate business attire. This is an excellent question that we think needs to be addressed.
While UGG boots are incredibly fashionable, some employers are less than thrilled to see their employees showing up to work in something they deem to be casual. So here’s the rule of thumb. If you work in a “business professional” environment you probably shouldn’t wear your UGG boots to work. If you work in a “business casual” environment you might consider wearing them, but should gauge whether or not your level of “business casual” leans more towards the business or casual end of the spectrum.
In today’s economy more and more women are finding it difficult to add to their once growing shoe collections. If you find yourself in this situation make sure you purchase a pair of shoes that is versatile, especially if you need to dress them both up and down. Remember the following:
Buy shoes that are either black or beige and make sure they are closed toe. Shoes of these color tones work with skirts and pants and can be worn during any season.
Make sure your feet don’t show through holes or straps. Strappy shoes are cute, for sure - but the more your foot shows the less appropriate your shoes really are for a business environment.
Buy the best quality pair of shoes possible. It may cost you a bit more upfront to do so, but you’ll end up spending less because your shoes will last longer.
Ready to enhance your wardrobe with a new pair of shoes? Hopefully you can fit UGG boots into your business environment. If not, find a pair of shoes that will last you well into the next season in both style and color. You won’t regret a sensible choice!

UGG Boots are Destined to Fit!

Here’s a story we loved hearing! This woman has been searching for a pair of nice winter boots all season long, but couldn’t find anything that properly fit her foot or calf. That’s a common problem amongst boot wearers, especially those who work out or have larger calves.
These are really pretty women’s UGGs too - they have a cute paisley design you can only see if you lookat them closely. We’re glad to see this woman found both the UGG boots and sneakers she was looking for. Can’t find boots that fit? Try UGGs. They just might be the solution to your problem!

Invented for Surfers?

Shocked and appalled. That’s how we felt the other day when we heard an obviously uneducated commentator on a morning news show proclaim that UGGs were originally invented to keep surfers’ feet warm after emerging from the waters off the shores of California. Hello?
It’s important to note, for those who are unaware, that Uggs were created in Australia, not in the 1950’s as some claim, but well over 200 years ago. They were originally worn by farmers and sheep herdsmen and then later became famous amongst Australian surfers, who then introduced them to their Californian counterparts.
Don’t forget, the term UGG actually refers to a type of boot. The warm and fuzzy boot, made with Merino sheepskin, have always been referred to as UGGs (or Ug, or Ugh, depending on who you ask) and weren’t trademarked under that name until the latter half of the 20th century।

UGG Summer Sandals

Summer is coming ,have you picked out your summer wardrobe yet? If not, you need to consider adding a pair of UGG sandals to the shopping list this year. Yes - that’s right. UGG sandals are turning out to be just as popular as the traditional UGG boot and you’ll want to grab a pair before your favorite store runs out of stock.
Alright. We understand that UGG boots can be worn in temperatures up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The wool interior has the natural ability to pull your body’s moisture away from the skin and cool your feet. That’s nice and all - but what if you live in a climate that regularly climbs into the high 80’s, 90’s, and even breaks the 100 degree mark? You certainly won’t want to wear ANY type of boot then, let alone UGGs.
The solution was to design a line of UGGs specifically for summer wear। We’re sure you’ll be astounded when you see exactly how many different varieties and styles there are to choose from, ranging from cute sandals to the standard flip-flop. They’re really far from standard, though.

Summer UGG Wear

The summer months are fast approaching and one of the most frequently asked questions we get is whether or not UGG boots are appropriate for summer wear. The short answer to this question is simply YES - and here’s why.
UGG boots are associated with winter, but it’s a common misconception that they can’t be worn during the summer as well. Most people don’t realize that wool has a natural thermal ability that can keep their feet just as cool in the summer as warm in the winter. Wool has the incredible ability to wick moisture away from the surface of your skin - leaving room for cool air to circulate and prevent your feet from overheating.
